The United States is considered to be one of the few countries created through diversity and strives to allow people to have freedom and unity. Just like every other forming nation, it has taken several years for people to see eye to eye with one another in order to become as equal possible. However, it has been several decades since the United States was founded and there are still major differences between men and women such as the pay gap in the workforce. This has been an ongoing issue in the United States that women continue to fight against. The difference in pay between the different genders attacks a women's personal freedom to have equality.

Furthermore, there has been multiple studies that proves that women are still being paid less than a man for the same job being performed. Although the pay gap has been narrowed, this issue has been persistent in the recent years. In fact, a recent study shows that the gap has been "relatively stable over the past 15 years". The gap still exists due to many factors such as work experience, cultural backgrounds, gender discrimination, etc. The difference in pay not only harms women financially but it also makes a statement on how the country feels about women. As a country that is targeted to be the land of the free and a place of equity, differences like the amount a person gets paid just because of their gender sets us back as a nation and shows how unequal we really are. A problem like this one attacks a women's personal freedom to be equal to men and to have a fair living.
